While all things arise from the natural world, some things we have created have the tendency to rapidly disconnect us from it. Wendell Berry wrote in “How to Be a Poet”:
Stay away from anything
that obscures the place it is in.
So while we work and live often in the digital realm, it is important to reground ourselves as much as we can in the physicality of the world that birthed us, the elemental matter our bodies are made of.
Simple ways to reconnect:
- go for a walk outside
- find a comfy place to sit outside
- listen and watch for birds, insects
- observe some plants up close (Botanize!)
- Build a Nature Mandala
